There's been a lot of change for me in the past six months. Everything in balance, the change has been for the better, if you look at Change as one solid clump-o-lumps tossed into a silver-lined bag. Still, there are moments when my joy at Princess Whackamole's success at college are eclipsed by the smaller, selfish, closer feeling of wishing she was home.
If I really want to torture myself, as I seem wont to do this week, I wonder if the bare root trees I planted two springs ago are starting to bloom yet. And silly enough, I miss the blog where I wrote about things like gardening and self-sufficiency. There was KAP, which was more domestic, and F&F, which tried to be more about Issues and Solutions. Somehow I got stuck there, inside that old public sphere/private sphere thang. (As if the blogsphere didn't erase that idea completely.)
Here's where I give myself a little pep talk, which begins: "Stop being such a dork. If you miss writing about that stuff, write about it on KAP! What the hell is your problem?" I lecture me for a few hours. Who am I to argue?
While I can't bring Boston any closer to Santa Barbara, I can at least bring some more F&F into KAP. I have new trees to write about: two apples (Anna and Fuji), an apricot (royal), a peach (Santa Barbara), and a mixed cherry. They're budding already. Time to get some pictures.
As of last weekend, there are blueberry bushes in front. Picking a couple of fresh blueberries on my way to work... well, that's some pretty tasty change.

When life gives you public/private confusions, make blueberry blog jam. Or something like that.
I'm not really one to talk, but taking your own advice is a good start:
After all, it doesn't really matter what you do. But for goodness sake, do something.
Looking forward to the garden updates!
